Shawn Green Retires!
It's a very sad day...
According to the New York Post, outfielder Shawn Green has decided to retire. Green is only 35 years old, but he has decided to walk away from baseball. He says there had been interest from 6 or 7 teams in his services for 2008, but he did not want to move too far from home at this point in his career (he would have only accepted a 2008 deal from a team on the West coast). Green was a two-time All-Star, and he also won a gold glove in his career. He played for the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and the Mets.
His best year came for the L.A. Dodgers in 2001 where he hit 49 HR and knocked in 125 RBI, while hitting .297. He went 20-20 three times in his career, and 30-30 once. Last year for the Mets, Green hit .291 with 10 HR and 46 RBI.
You will be missed, #20.
