New Wii Games

But can Cliff the mii play?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl registered a new contestant this week when Nintendo revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be making an appearance in the hugely awaited game on its flagship games console, Wii.

Nintendo confirmed that Sega's answer to Mario will be a part of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl, adding that Sonic can transform himself into Super Sonic in the game. Confirming the report, Mike Hayes, President and COO of SEGA Europe expressed his delight at the announcement, stating that this will strengthen the bond between Sega and Nintendo.

"Its amazing that after all these years we get to see these two much loved characters compete against each other in another fantastic title. Bringing Mario and Sonic together again underlines the continuing partnerships between Nintendo and SEGA, and produces another industry first for our two companies", Hayes added.

Nintendo also confirmed that there are plans to include a online mode for the game, which could include a co-op fighting though the company did not elaborate on the details. On a downside, Nintendo announced that the game will not be released in Japan before January next year, though it could see a worldwide release later this year.
